Just look at these delights ..............
and they are free...........yes, you've got it! The knitting patterns are FREE!!
You don't get much for nothing these days, so I was delighted when I came across these and other free patterns supplied by Julie on her blog www.littlecottonrabbits.typepad.co.uk/free
I had the pleasure of meeting Julie sometime ago at Jolie Knit & chat, and she really does design and knit the most beautiful 'Little Cotton Rabbits'.
The reason I fell upon this site again yesterday is because my daughter has decided that she wants an 80's style knitted jumper with either a raindeer or a snowman on it just for christmas. But should a jumper be just for christmas or should it be for life???!!!!!!!!
After all the hard work that obviously goes into a handknitted garment, I would hope that she would wear it for several christmas' but we all know that is not going to happen. At 14 she wants one on a whim, who knows if she will even wear it this year once it is knitted. The last handknitted christmas jumper I saw was on Bridget Jones, so if she wants to go the whole hog I could lend her the big knickers!!!! But to be perfectly honest I kind of think it would be fun to knit..........using colours that I would not normally use......and perhaps a bit of artistic liscence.
PROBLEM;................I can't find an adult size christmas jumper knitting pattern.........HELP!! Yet another request, I don't suppose any of you would have one I could borrow, would you?

Room with a view
This is the view from my office window, it really is quite lovely working on a farm.......
NO!!.... I'm not a farmer!!
I just work in a small unit on a farm......when I am actually doing any work I design and when I'm not I blog!
The farmhouse is a 400 year old building with a wibbly wobbly chimney, I have never been in it but would love to have a nose.

Fluorescent, Fluorescent, Fluorescent...........
Yes you've got it ........ I am working with fluorescent yarn, but it's very hard to find.
I am making some crazy coursage's for my crazy friend Jess @ www.rositalollipop-lollipop/blogspot.com
So for now, everything else is on hold! Even the housework!!
Haha any excuse.......
Does anyone have any fluorescent yarn that is surplus to requirements.
Yes, I know, I can hear you saying "Why on earth would I have fluorescent yarn?" But sometimes we just acquire these things for no apparent reason. If you do have some and don't want it and have no need for it, I would be very interested.
Once I have finished them I will show you ................ I have made eight so far, so watch this space...............Soon my lovelys

Thursday 10 September 2009

Just returned from my dose of knit & chat at lovely Jolie.
I have had a wonderful morning and then lunch in a glorious tea room.
I must say it's been wonderful to catch up with all the girls and yet again I have spotted lots of new projects for the future, so really can't wait to finish the one I'm on. I am trying to stay discipined and not jump from one project to the other, it's so hard.......good thing I'm broke at the moment, or may just be tempted to start another one!

Dilemma

I have decided, I am going to crochet a granny square blanket out of all the odd balls of yarn I have lying around. Some of the yarn is acrylic, but I have decided that I don't care, I will use it anyway, after all Cath Kidston blankets are acrylic, so whats wrong with that......
Yes decision made.......I feel inspired, although I must finish the cardi I am knitting.
I may just start the blanket anyway, but I do have a beach hut blanket to finish as well........oh god, dilemma.......should I start yet another project or should I at least finish one!!
Watch this space, I will let you know on Friday what I decide to do......
You will see above a Cath Kidston blanket, what do you think?

.....it seems we have movement.
How wonderful it is to have a friend to lean on!!

I'm back!!

Loook!!!!!!
I have just spent a lovely four days away with my family and decided when I got back to go into town for a few things.
This is what I saw!
Well hav'nt they had a lovely time.....I don't know who they are and I don't want to, but I must say they look quite relaxed.......and...........

What a total disaster........My memory card from my camera won't download!!!
Don't panic..what to do..what to do..what to do......
Ooooh HELP!!!!!!!
A life without pictures.............NO.....this can't be happening...Compose..
I must try and resolve this problem, I will get back to you............

Thursday 13 August 2009

I am in the process of knitting myself a cardi.....
Do I still like the yarn.....not so sure now....Oh god that always happens to me.
I start with great intentions of knitting a masterpiece, then go off the yarn half way through.
Damn...I will continue.
I love the colour, I think!
I loved the yarn until I read the ball band and discovered it has acrylic in it!!! The 'A' word, oh dear..it also has pure wool......can I live with the 'A' word??
I've gone too far to abandon it now!!

Yes my beautiful girl is still in Portugal.

Oh how I miss her.....but she will be back on Thursday...yipee!!

I will be ready for lots of holiday chat, tales to tell, photos to see and big cuddles.

Not just up the road

My beautiful daughter Amellia is away enjoying her first holiday abroad.....yes......she is in Portugal, without me!! And she has my camera, so no random photos on my blog at the moment.
She has gone for 2 weeks with her friend Maisie, and Maisies family. I tried to explain to Amellia that we will only be able to call her every 3 days as Portugal is not just up the road and she should just enjoy her holiday, but so far we have spoken to her every day.....but that's fine so long as she is happy.
I really want to show you what I am knitting, but without my camera I can't, so you will just have to wait.

Some of my favourite shops

Nest.....in Burwash Manor, Cambridgeshire.
On a farmyard full of little shops and a tea room in the Cambridgeshire countryside.
Nest sells wonderful vintage artifacts, homeware and kitchinalia.

Rosita Lollipop, in Hitchin, where my lovely friend Jess, who really is a 1950's babe (but much younger of course) designs and creates the most beautiful, the zany, the wonderful, the unique magnifique.........

A colourful explosion of vintage meets retro chic.

Remember those days of quality and charm, remember those toys we used to play with, remember those sweets we used to get, remember those places we used to visit......
Rosita Lollipop will take you back in time.....
That's what I love about it, I'm sure you would love it too.

Look.......

Seeing is believing.

This is one of my most favourite shops....Jolie.....in Walkern High Street.
An oasis of pleasure and such a happy place to be, it makes you smile and feel warm inside, I just love it.
Linda and Dani the owners are lovely too, you must go and visit the shop, they will give you a warm welcome and once you have been you will want to go back and go back and go back.

As well as beautiful gifts and things for the home you can buy the most wonderful yarns and knitting books, they have knit & chat and workshops where you can meet lots of lovely people.

Elasticated Waist......your worst nightmare

Throw them away.....they are your worst enemy, believe me.

To date I have lost 1st 4lb and still losing, yey.

I have ditched my elasticated waists for a waistband....

Why?

......because over time I have grown with the elastic without really realising how much and believe me elastic don't arf stretch.

So next time you look at that elasticated waist, think again, it's not worth it, at least with a proper waistband you can keep control of that 1lb or 2 and do something about it before it gets out of hand.

Something good

I was just browsing through one of my

favourite blogs and was drawn to the Macmillan Comfort Blanket Campaign. I am sure most of us have known of someone who has been touched by this terrible disease, the campaign is for the worlds biggest knitting coffee morning ever, to be held on Friday 25th September 2009. I will be holding a coffee morning at my house on that day, but anyone can do it you just have to register at http://www.coffeemorningregister.org.uk/

Each blanket has 40 squares and I will take the completed blanket to the Knitting & Stitching Show at Alexander Palace in October.

Each comfort blanket created will be given to someone affected by cancer.

If you would like to help me create a comfort blanket you can download it from some square designs from http://www.macmillan.org.uk/ Leave me a message and will will arrange to get the square/s.

This is for such a fantastic charity so come on everyone help me make this event big event if you would like to come to my coffee morning please leave me message and I will forward details to you.

Thank you my lovely friends. Please watch this space for more information.

I did'nt know that...........

How clean is your house?

I did'nt know that.......

25% of contents in a vacuum cleaner is human skin.......urgh

The average dishcloth contains a million times for bacteria than a toilet seat....Gross

76% of women make beds daily compared with 46% of men...........I knew that

Flushing a toilet with the lid up ejects an aerosol like plume of germs around the bathroom that floats for up to 2 hours.........take an umbrella to the loo.

Well just a little bit of useless information, or maybe not so useless but fuel for your OCD......never let it be said that I hav'nt helped you with your compulsions.

Yes well I think I've got it, yey!! I am so happy, I just love reading other peoples blogs, there will be a lot more to come.
No this isn't me and David, just some random people on the beach last year. How very British with those lovely hats!

From Southwold pier, in the rain

Well, its been a long time.....almost a year...
Can you believe it, I lost my blog, could'nt even remember what I called it...but that's how I am. Lol (as they say....apparently it means laugh out loud, so my teenage children tell me). I am going to keep this short just to test that I am doing the right thing.
So will be back very soon, when I know what I'm doing.
